It’s All About the Spine.
Our spines connect everything in our body. It is the root of our overall wellness and almost always to blame for chronic pain in our bodies.
At Desert Sky Spine & Pain, we believe in addressing the core root of pain, not just managing symptoms. This is why, when you come to us, we look at you as a person – your activities and lifestyle – as well as your structure in order to determine a care plan that attacks the pain directly at the source.
Our Philosophy
We are Physiatrists – aka Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians. This means we are trained to focus on medical conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments and tendons.
Dr. Coury, our founding doctor, is a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
The primary difference between a DO and an MD is that a DO acknowledges the importance of treating the body as a whole. Pain in your neck could be caused by an issue in another part of your body. Another part of the osteopathic philosophy is that one’s body is capable of healing itself and so DOs use therapeutic methods to hasten healing. In other words, we believe you are more than just a series of pain areas and we believe in medication for the purpose of helping the body to heal, as opposed to just symptom management.
Here at Desert Sky Spine & Pain, We Believe...
- The body is amazing, infinitely complex and masterfully designed to do incredible things.
- You should be empowered as a patient to ask questions and receive answers when it comes to your treatment plan and to be truly listened to and heard.
- Pain management is sometimes necessary. While that is available when needed, our goal is to equip you with the right tools and care plan to see you win- not just “manage”.
- Movement spurs healing. Oftentimes getting you mobile can help your body heal itself.
- The spine is very often a primary source of pain and that’s why we specialize in it- not just pain.
We don’t believe in simply dulling your pain,
We want your body to be able to HEAL from pain, permanently.
