Dr. Janavi Rao, M.D. was born in Miami, FL and raised in Bangalore, India. She earned her medical degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and went on to complete her anesthesiology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis MO where she served as chief resident of her class. She completed her interventional pain medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan. She practiced anesthesiology and interventional pain management in Michigan prior to moving to warm Tucson with her husband and 2 daughters.
When it comes to acute and chronic pain, Dr. Rao prides herself on treating the entire patient. She is a firm believer in utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach to treat any patient who comes through her doors. Her special interests include post-laminectomy pain syndrome, women’s pain and pediatric pain.
In her spare time, Dr. Rao enjoys trying new recipes, hiking and swimming. She looks forward to serving the Tucson community.
